Building Strong Athletes Through Summer Training & Healthy Habits

D'EA SPTNT Staff
As summer training kicks off at D'EA SPTNT, our athletes are hitting the mats, beams, and bars with energy and enthusiasm! While training hours increase during the summer months, our coaching team is placing an extra emphasis on the importance of healthy habits both inside and outside the gym.

Why Summer Training Matters

Summer provides a unique opportunity for gymnasts to sharpen skills, build strength, and set personal goals without the added pressures of school schedules. Athletes have the chance to focus on technique, flexibility, and conditioning — all of which help prevent injuries and boost confidence for the upcoming season.

“Our goal during summer is to give gymnasts a solid foundation they can carry into the rest of the year,” says Coach "D", head coach at SPTNT. “But what happens outside of the gym is just as important.”

Healthy Habits Beyond the Gym

To support their hard work on the floor, athletes are encouraged to practice healthy habits at home, including:

  • Staying hydrated: Especially during warmer months and longer training days.

  • Eating balanced meals: Focusing on fresh fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates.

  • Getting quality sleep: Ensuring athletes are well-rested helps muscle recovery and mental focus.

  • Stretching at home: Gentle stretching in the evenings keeps muscles loose and prevents soreness.

Creating a Positive Routine

The coaching team has also integrated wellness talks and goal-setting sessions into weekly training to help athletes stay motivated and mindful of their progress.

“We want our athletes to understand that being a gymnast is a lifestyle — one that includes taking care of your body and mind”.

As the summer progresses, families can expect regular updates, athlete highlights, and tips for maintaining healthy habits throughout the season.
